EMPTIES #4

*WARNING* - There's a lot. I'll try and be brief with evaluations.

I'm being uprooted from my current apartment to live somewhere new. Moving means... clearing out and I'd been stashing my junk in a little bag in the corner of my room. I tried hard to finish products till the very last drop and also throw out ones that were expired.

It's been 4 months and in total, I finished and tossing out 53 different products. Here they are:

Avalon Organics Vitamin C Refreshing Cleansing Gel ($12.50)
I love citrus scents, but I hated this. It must be 3 years old or more. For the most part, I didn't use it on my face. It worked well to clean my makeup brushes.
Repurchase? No.

Bioderma Sensobio ($23)
Ok, we get it. Bioderma is amazing. It's nice and gentle but removes eye makeup like a dream. I go through a whole bottle pretty quickly, but I'd still dish out the cash for it.
Repurchase? Yes.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash ($13)
When I ran out of this product, my skin was begging for exfoliation. The exfoliating "peach pit" beads are a large and not too saturated into the product. My skin was visibly clearer after using it every other day in the shower.
Repurchase? Yes.

Sisely Makeup Remover ($65 for full size)
Presumably, I would never dish out more than $25 for a makeup remover. This one was pretty stellar. I was not a fan of the herbal scent, but it worked well.
Repurchase? No. I can get Bioderma for less!

Pure+Simple Sensitive Skin Face Wash ($14.95)
A Beauty Board sample, I really enjoyed the gentle factor of this cleanser, perfect for everyday.
Repurchase? Yes. The price is fair, and its natural and organic.

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser ($8.99)
I have to admit that this is really similar to the pure+simple face wash, but I'm not sure of what chemicals live in this product. Plus, the scent makes my eyes itchy :(
Repurchase? No.

Consonant Citrus Bergamot Organic Body Lotion, Moisturizing Eye Cream, Ultra Moisturizing Face Cream, Organic Moisturizing Face Cream, Firming Eye Cream ($36-$54)
I learned about this brand at the Blush Pretty Beauty Board. I love the fact that Consonant is an organic brand. The creams that I tried were very lightweight with a very slight natural scent. Overall, I liked all the creams I tried but would need to try a larger size if I wanted to evaluate noticeable differences.
Repruchase? Maybe.

NARS Skin Luminous Gel Moisturizer ($65 for full size)
This literally felt like nothing on my skin. It didn't do anything either.
Repurchase? No.

Biolage keratindose Shampoo & Conditioner, La Coupe Volume Shampoo & Conditioner, Tresemme Split Remedy Repair Shampoo & Conditioner
Both the Tresemme and the Biolage Shampoos offered similar "hair strengthening and repair" qualities. I liked both. I didn't find that the La Coupe duo offered anything different from others.
Repurchase? I try a lot of shampoos. I'd be most likely to go for the Biolage one.

Garnier Bleach Conditioner
After ombre-ing my hair, it was literally DEAD. This conditioner repaired my hair... kind of, but I think the ombre damage was beyond repair.
Repurchase? Nope. This stuff actually came with the dye that I used :)

ISO Colour Preserve Hydrating Treatment ($8 for full size)
This is a leave in conditioner. Literally did nothing and smelled kinda gross.
Repurchase? No.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Oil ($21.95)
I likey! This was from one of the Ipsy bags and reminded me of a stickier oil treatment. Had a pleasant, light scent and made my hair non-frizzy and moisturized at the ends. However, I prefer pure argan oil to any sort of treatment
Repurchase? No.

Oribe Light Moisturizing Cream ($49)
Yet another Holt Renfrew sample, I really really liked this product. It added a shine without looking oily. Unfortunately, it's a little out of my price range for hair care.
Repurchase? No.

Montagne Jeunesse Morning After Scrub & Dead Sea Mud Spa Mask (less than $3)
My boyfriend and I tried these out. See our review
Repurchase? Yes.

Kiehls Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser ($30 for full size)
Waahhh this made my eyes rashy. If it didn't I'd like it... it has tiny exfoliating particles.
Repurchase? No.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa ($44 for full size)
This is one of those "leave it on in the night and wake up with glamorous skin" type of products. I used it through the night but found it to be a bit messy... it got on my pillow. Did I wake up with beautiful fresh skin? Better than usual for sure.
Repurchase? Maybe. I like the concept of this product, but the price is a little of a turn off.

Mary Kay Botanical Effects Mask and Cleanser ($14 for full size)
This had the EXACT same texture as the Kiehl's cleanser, but didn't make my eyes react.
Repurchase? Yes.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter ($7 for full size)
Smells like hot chocolate. Need I say more?
Repurchase? No. I actually don't want to smell like chocolate day-in and day-out.

Burts Bees Milk & Shea Butter Body Wash ($8)
Extremely gentle and very moisturizing. Maybe even a little too gentle. The scent was nothing noteworthy.
Repurchase? No. There's too many body washes out there to stick to just one!

Molton Brown Heavenly Gingerly Body Wash ($30 for full size)
From the HR Beauty Bag, this stuff definitely smells heavenly. It felt a little like something I'd get from a nice hotel.
Repurchase? No.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sunscreen ($8 for full size)
Smells like vacation and feels like slathering butter on your skin.. in a good way.
Repurchase? Probably not.

Vichy Capital Soleil 60XL ($40 for full size)
I purchased a full size of this and it came with a mini. I'll save my thoughts for later, but for the most part it's good. Can be used for face and arms.
Repurchase? already have a full size!

NOTE. these are my "throw-outs". I haven't actually finished them.

Pupa Cosmetics Lip Gloss
Purchased this in Italy back in 2010. It's a little sentimental but it's mostly collecting dust in a corner.

Sephora Glitter Cream Shadows
My first ever Sephora purchase... also quite sentimental. A total waste because I think I used each colour a little more than once.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in RSVP
This one is also quite old. I decide it's time to let go because it started to smell sour and kind of fermented. I will be repurchasing benefit cream shadows... perhaps in other shades in the future.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - Depotted ($4)
The Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is so soft that it cracked way too easily. I depotted it into the Body Shop container. I found that the powder was great at keeping me matte but very... powdery...
Repurchase? No.

Benefit Erase Paste ($26 for full size)
This lasts FOREVER. I had a mini-size and it took me 1.5 years to finish this. The salmon colour is perfect for counteracting blue-toned under eyes. The product is quite thick and slidey so if you buy it, make sure to blend it out well and then set with powder
Repurchase? Maybe.

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Foundation ($36 for full size)
1 out of 3 of the minis of this foundation, I reserve it only for summertime because the colour is too dark for my skin. This foundation slightly dewy and medium coverage.
Repurchase? I got this one as a sample and still have three more

MAC Face and Body ($27 for full size)
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. Face and Body is a very sheer, lightweight foundation. I had the colour C3. It is very sheer but as you blend it, the coverage becomes more buildable. It looks like nothing on the skin but evens out skin tone nicely.
Repurchase? YES!

Herbal Essences Body Envy Shampoo & Conditioner
Smells amazing.. like a tropical vacation.
Pantene Aqua Light Shampoo & Conditioner
Too light
Vidal Sassoon Pro Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner
Very moisturizing
John Frieda Sheer Blonde Shampoo & Conditioner
I am not a blonde, so I am not sure why I even ordered this colour sample.

I would repurchase the Herbal Essences and the Vidal Sassoon :)

Life Brand Cosmetic Pads (less than $3)
Nothing too stellar. If you try to use them too vigorously, the cotton in the middle starts falling out.
Repurchase? Yes.

Simple Skincare Makeup Removing Wipes ($10)
Got these little guys in the mail. Removal of eye makeup with these wipes required some scrubbing.
Repurchase? No.

I honestly cannot tell the difference between most toothpastes. These ones were both good. :)

Blueberry and Brown Sugar Cookies by Peak Freans, PC Decadent Chocolate Chunk Cookies, and golden raisins are among some of my favourite study snacks. :)

I have come to the realization that this is too many empties for one post. Perhaps every 2 months instead? Have you tried any of these products?
